Progress Report/ Action Plan: 7/02/11 By Naomi

Before hand we completed most of our pre poduction research such as:
  • Scehduling
  • Location Settings
  • Character Profiles
  • Potential 'disturbed' Looks (make up and clothing)

In this week, we started our filming beginning with a shed scene where we would see the main protagonists expressing her psychologically distubed emotions. This scene was developed using torches, nursery rhymes and high and low angle shots. In some ways the rain that was present added to the effect of a mysterious and disturbed scene especially with the surrounding tools above and around the actor. We were excited and full of various ideas which enabled us to produce a well structured and thought out first scene.

After watching it back, we decided that many more improvements could be carried out therefore the week beginning 14th of February we shall be recording another shed scene at a different setting with more space to capture more angles and ideally freedom to experiment more effects and use of props. The most important improvement was the clothing which will be decided soon.

Progress Report - Ramita

Progress Report:
We decided on who was going to be in the production, and what scenes will need them for. We produced a schedule, with what props we will need, where we will be filming and what characters we will need on the day. We did the character profiles for the rest of the characters in the trailer. We took pictures of the different locations that we will be filiming at too. Also I posted on the blog the some of the dialogue that will be in our trailer.

Action Plan:
We will need to start recording the following scenes:
Thursday Period 5 & 6 - Shed Scene
Saturday - Bath Scene
Also need to research on possible music ideas - Friday

Progress report: Rabia

Progress report:
  • we have been able to complete the bath room scene and scenes in the shed, which only involved the girl, Elyica.
  • We had looked for the music that may be used in the trailer.
Action Plan for 14th February:

  • We would like to complete scenes with the little girl and Elycia in the park, which will be at the beginning of the trailer.
  • Maybe start editting, and try piece the scenes together and gather what we need to improve so for next week (half term) we will be able to correct the mistakes.

Script- Protagonist and Brother scene

The Mum and the Brother are already present in the living room.

Mum: “I need to talk to you”

Brother: “Yeah what happened?”

Mum: “Erm, how can I say this?’

(Rabia walks in and the atmosphere in the room changes and everyone goes quiet).

Brother: … “(Rabia) why do you carry that old bag with you”

Rabia: “What’s it to you?”

Brother: “what do you mean what’s it to me? You look like a freak show with it. Normal kids your age don’t carry around old bags”.

Rabia: “And what? Maybe I’m not like them. Normal”

Brother: “what?”

Brother attempts to take the bag of Rabia
Rabia screams

Mum: “Leave her alone”

Rabia runs out of the room

Character Profiles

The Brother:

In our trailer, the brother will connote a turning point in the narrative. The audience will not see much of the brother in the film, however they will see him take part in the longest scene of the trailer, in which we will see the protagonist changing. Also the brother will connote the protagonist's relationships with other characters in the trailer.

The Mother:
In our trailer, the mother is going to an important role in the chain of murders, which go onto confuse the audience. As the trailer processes we will see different sides to the mother, which will question the audience if the mother is good or bad and is she really reliable through her changing sides really quickly.

Title Writing Fonts

This font style seems quite formal but effective becuase of its naturalistic appeal it has. It also relates to potentially how the main protagonist will write her riddles. A negative of this font is that it is too formal for a character of 15 years old to be writing, it doesnt reflect her confused personality.
This font however does look quite childish and rough which certainly relates to her real personalilty of confused and fidgety. in my opinion, this is more effective because it is quite generic which can add to the effect of a 'who done it' narrative during the murders in the neighbourhood.
